Our Mission
Some of the animals and animal owners URAH has assisted
After a fire completely destroyed Tim and Mary's house in 2005, URAH helped out by providing shelter for their dogs and cats as well as for Mary and Tim until they were able to recover and get their lives back on track.
In 2007 we were asked to help an elderly horse that was "skin and bones". URAH supplied feed and supplements for the horse and provided the owner with tips on caring for his beloved 28 year old mare. He followed our advise and the mare's condition gradually improved over the next year. On a subsequent visit in 2009 we were greeted by a well fleshed mare and a happy owner.
URAH was contacted in the summer of 2008 to assist an overworked and stressed out owner who needed a temporary place to keep her 4 horses while she was in the process of moving. Due to unforeseen events, the owner was unable to take the horses back and sunsequently transferred ownership to URAH in 2009. The previous owners of all 4 horses were contacted. However, only one of them was willing and able to help. The other 3 horses are permanent residents at URAH.
The owner of an elderly gelding that wasn't doing well was referred to URAH in 2008 by a mutual acquaintance for end of life and grief counseling.
The rescuers of a horse with an old and untreated shoulder injury requested URAH to give him a home in 2009 because boarding stables wouldn't take him due to the draining wound. owner of an elderly gelding that wasn't doing well was referred to URAH by a mutual acquaintance for end of life and grief counseling.
